It has been announced that WhatsApp was rolling out an event feature for community group chats. With this feature, WhatsApp enables community members to create and manage events directly within their group chats. Users can easily schedule online meetings, gatherings, or other activities, complete with details like event name, description, date, and optional location. It appears that WhatsApp aims to further refine this feature by implementing more options to improve the user experience. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.5 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on an event reminder feature for community group chats!
As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is testing a new option to allow users to set reminders for their events, scheduled for release in a future update of the app. Through reminders, community admins will be able to ensure that members stay updated and engaged with scheduled events, choosing when they will be notified whether it’s 30 minutes, 2 hours, or even 1 day before the event. It’s important to note that community admins will be able to select up to 2 options for notification timing, providing flexibility in catering to the varied preferences and schedules of community members.
